Twas The Night Before Christmas

Looking back at times past and looking forward at time to come is something most of us tend to do at Christmas. Looking back to where we came from helps us to get a sense of where we're going and how far we've come.

Arguably one of the most famous opening lines of any Christmas poem "A Visit from St. Nicholas", by Clement Clarke Moore, offers us a traditionally warm and cheery glimpse of the image of Father Christmas at work yet it now also offers us a measure of how our lives have moved forward in the 191 years since the poem was written.

Can your image of Father Christmas change?

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;...

It's often said that Coca-Cola changed our image of St. Nick into the red-robed Father Christmas we know today but can this image change once more? Nearly 200 years ago homes fell silent on the night before Christmas in awe of the imminent arrival of Father Christmas and how things have changed; on 24th December 2014 mice were doing much more than stirring - they were busy clicking. Can you change your image of Father Christmas into the image of a search engine...?

All our customers' websites were open for business. On the night before Christmas this year: buyers were using their mice to search for "logs for sale hertfordshire" and were clicking through to the website of Phil Holt & Son; estate agents were searching for "marketing a new property agency business" and clicking through to Prestige Print's website; builders were searching for "sandblasting services" and finding Bernard Johnson's website starring at the top of Google's search results pages.

What all websites want for Christmas

This Christmas Eve, Sub@omic websites waited not for St. Nicholas but an altogether different kind of visitor - customers. Even on Christmas Eve, people were searching Google right up to the stroke of midnight. When Google plays at being Father Christmas it knows which websites have been naughty and which have been nice and brings gifts in the form of visits. Our websites work around the clock, around the calendar and around the globe. If you've been good boys and girls and you've used SEO wisely to tell Google who you want to visit your website then the chances are that you'll wake on Christmas morning to new business opportunities - just like some of Sub@omic's customers.

He's making a list, he's checking it twice

Christmas is a time for giving and all Google wants to know is what you want for Christmas. Give Google the longest possible Christmas list to index and you'll stand a far better chance of getting what you always wanted for Christmas - more business.

You see, people don't search for you because they don't know you exist - that's why they rely upon Google - so, instead, they search for the things they want. When you use SEO you'll be writing not about who you are but what you do for others.

Father Christmas only gives to those who believe

Far too often we hear people tell us they want more business from their website but don't want write a lot because of a misguided belief that most people don't read. Believe me when I say that Google reads every letter you send it. If you don't believe in Father Christmas, if you don't write a lot, if you Scrooge on your website content and don't spend your time thinking about others then, when it's dressed as Father Christmas having indexed your website, Google will have generated an awfully short Christmas list for you and the chances are you'll wake-up disappointed on Christmas morning.

Happy Christmas to all from Sub@omic

...He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle, And away they all flew like the down of a thistle. But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight- "Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!'
